The Trio have decided to join Voldemort and the Death Eaters, believing it to be the only way to get rid of Voldemort once and for all. You know, the whole "Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer" sort of thing. Ron was not up for it but agreed and Hermione was so-so but agreed. The whole idea was Harry's. What they did not expect was for it to leek that they have joined Voldemort and now the wizarding world really believes the Golden Trio have betrayed them. Dumbledore is trying to keep the Trio on good terms with the Ministry while Neville Longbottom, Hannah Abbott and Cho Chang have taken over Dumbledore's Army. And while all this is going on, Harry and Ron have just found out that Draco and Hermione are going out.
