The sun had set, and the Golden Sands Beach was cloaked in darkness. The path that led to the beach was also dark - for the most part. The last third of the path was lit periodically by tiki torches.
Down the beach, Felix was hauling crates with the Firewhiskey logo printed on them while Elena arranged a huge pile of wood to her liking. Finally satisfied, she stepped back, held a hand out to the wood pile, and sent a pulse of fire into it. The flame took to the wood quickly, and there was soon a roaring bonfire. Elena clapped her hands happily, then turned to Felix and said, "Oh, Fee - don't forget to put a cooling charm on those."
Felix nodded, pulling out his wand and muttering a spell under his breath. A pale blue light flowed from the tip of his wand to encompass the crates as he moved his wand along the line of them.
Humming to herself, Elena went over to one of several brown paper bags, and out of one of them, pulled a larger-than-usual clear, hollow crystal ball. "You sure this thing will work?" she asked, eying it.
Felix rolled his eyes and said, "Yes. I spent ages on it, and it is one of my most genius ideas to date."
Elena shrugged, and taking out her own wand, levitated the ball before securing it to a tree branch overhead, just far enough from the bonfire to be sure not to damage it.
"It's fifteen to nine," Felix announced, checking his watch. "People should start arriving in a bit."
[Note: This is a secret party, that the profs don't know about - especially because there's alcohol, which isn't allowed on the campus.. And the beach is considered on campus. So no professors on this thread - yet. ]

[Jumping ahead in time.. About two hours into the party.] Dance music emanated from the crystal ball hanging near the fire, and several students were dancing around the fire. Nearby, in a circle of logs pulled up near the bushes, another group, including Elena, sat in a circle playing a raucous game of "Truth or Dare". Elena had an easy grin on her face and a firewhiskey bottle in hand. She wore a long shimmering green striped top over a metallic gold bikini, with white and gold heeled sandals completing the look. Down the beach a little ways, it appeared Felix was talking with someone, though he also had a firewhiskey bottle with him. He simply wore green and black swim trunks paired with a white shirt.
When someone in the circle began to perform a lap dance for another person on a dare, Elena tipped her head back and laughed, then hooted and catcalled teasingly with the rest of the group.

Adrian walked past one of the tiki torches to see a group of drunk teens partying by the beach. He shook his head a bit irritated by the sight of one of them giving another a lap dance. "Party's over," he muttered to himself as he walked forward. He slowed to a stop before he cleared the path. "Go back to the school now before I see your face," he said, though no one was in sight. "Leave the firewhiskey here though," he added. After a few seconds he turned around to find two full bottles of firewhiskey sitting on the ground and fresh foot tracks leading back the other way. Huh, he thought to himself letting out a bit of a chuckle, I wasn't even sure someone was there. Could sure as hell smell the firewhiskey though.
He turned back around and continued towards the beach. As he walked he pulled out his wand and silenced the music with an simply flick of his wand. "I hope you all had fun because you won't be when the headmistress finds out about this!" he shouted out to them as he neared. "I suggest you all scurry out of here before I decide to start writing down names!"

A chorus of irritated voices rose when the music cut off, and Elena twisted around to see what was going on. "Shit," she muttered, spotting the robes of a professor. She was about to go down the beach to grab Felix and book it out of there when she recognized just which professor it was standing there. "Guys, guys, chill out," Elena said to the others muttering mutinously around her. "I'll go see what's going on, see if we can't work something out." With a flick of her power she doused the torches near Adrian, hoping that those near enough to see him were too inebriated to recognize him, and might just think he was a prefect.
Standing, Elena shoved her firewhiskey bottle into the hand of a random person nearby, brushed some sand off of her legs, then hurried over to Adrian. "What are you doing here?" she hissed, grabbing his arm and dragging him towards the shadows of the bushes. "How did you even find out about the party?"

Adrian looked back as the torches suddenly went out, then as he looked around he spotted the cause. Quickly, he caught his balance after stumbling back to one of the bushes. "What am I doing here?" he replied, "what are you doing here?" He paused for a second realizing that he could smell firewhiskey all over her breath. "Are you drunk? Never mind that," he added, "You have a snitch amongst yourselves. Since I usually have the graveyard shift of patrolling the castle I was told to go check out if anything suspicious was going on. Obviously the snitch was correct." He paused before looking very serious, "are you out of your mind? Do you know how severe the punishments are for a student who is intoxicated?"

Elena glanced back at the group of students, swearing under her breath at the mention of a rat among them. Nobody seemed to be too concerned with where she'd gone, though - a couple of them were trying to figure out how to turn the music back on, and Felix was hurrying back over to stop them before they broke his beloved contraption.
Turning back to Adrian, she said, voice slurring only slightly, "I don't really see what the big deal is. I mean, everyone's been stressing out lately, is it so wrong for us to want to blow some steam off once in a while? 'Sides, we've got like two healers among us - what could go wrong?" She started to walk a bit further into the bushes, then cursed when she nearly tripped, her heel sinking into the sand. "Stupid heels," she muttered, reaching down to yank one off of her foot, wobbling dangerously as she did so. "Don't know why the hell I wore them. So not sand-walking attire."
