Personality:
Most of the time, Leilah is a fairly nice person. Some of her father and brothers' personality has rubbed off on her though, and does tend to be honest and straight-forward with her words all the time, which sometimes means unintentionally hurting people. However, she is an exceptionally loyal friend, and would stick by her friends no matter what.
Her vanity means that Leilah is often caught looking in every mirror or reflective surface she walks past out of habit more than anything. It is also her vanity which makes her judge people on their appearance, not their personality when first meeting someone new. This of course leads to her being prejudice about a person, although she does try her hardest not to judge a book by it's cover too much.
Leilah isn't exceedingly bright, but manages to scrape acceptable grades with a lot of hard-work and willpower. Her determination to see something through to the end is second to none, and can sometimes be her downfall.
Most people find that until they know her very well, they are always tiptoeing around Leilah, trying to avoid aggrivating her. She has incredibly drastic and unpredictable mood swings, set off by the littlest of things that she finds annoying or she doesn't like. When in a temper, she gets incredibly violent and is almost blinded by the rage, which is part of the problems all - even part -Veelas face everyday.
Ability: Half Veela + Animal Mimicry (Ability to take on the abilities of certain animals). I guess these may be closely related because Veelas are guardians of nature, but if you want me to just have one, the Animal Mimicry is fine (:
History:
Leilah was the sixth born to halfblood Harrison Owens and Veela Amandine Leroy. What attracted Amandine to her husband had never been very certain - he wasn't the best looking wizard, nor the nicest. Perhaps it was his promise of financial stablity and that Amandine would never have to lift a finger ever again if she wished not to, that meant that they were married, and ended up having six children. The first five, much to Amandine's dismay and Harrison's delight, were all boys. Then along came Leilah, much to her mother's delight.
They lived very comfortably in the heart of the English countryside with enough money for them all to have whatever they wanted, due to Harrison's inheritance and highly-paid job at the Ministry. However, growing up in a houseful of boys meant that Leilah soon learnt to grow a backbone and stand up for herself. She prefered to seek her mother's company, but got along fairly well with all of her brothers. Her father was often absent because he was working, which meant he never really bonded with any of his children. The only child that he attempted (unsucessfully) to bond with was his oldest son, for the simple reason he was to inherit the family name and all the estates when he was older.
Her mage powers started showing through when she was twelve. In the year previous to that, she had attended Beauxbatons because her mother thought it would be good to keep Leilah out of the spotlight that would have shone down on her at the mostly Veela-free Hogwarts. In fact, it was at Beauxbatons in her second year that she first realised she had a special power. There had been mistakes and slip-ups previously that Leilah had just thought were due to pranks or misprouncing spells - things such as being able to run faster than normal and 'hovering' for a couple of seconds. Lee had simply touched her pet owl whilst returning it to the Owlrey and found that she had both exceptionally good far-sighted vision and was able to turn her head to give herself a 270 degree view.
After telling her parents of her suspected power, Leilah was instantly transfered to Albus Dumbledore school for Gifted Magical Persons, where she has resided for almost four years so far. Her powers meant that the relationship between her and her brothers' got worse - they were jealous that they too had not developed any special powers, which run through their mother's side irregularly.
Other:
Animals act as a 'charger' for her - the longer she touches the animal, the longer she'll have its power. For five to ten minutes after the power has ran out, she often experiences making the animal noises whilst talking, so generally during this period she has learnt not to talk now. Also, using an animal's power for too long or switching from one animal to the next too quickly sometimes results in her having violent mood swings for the rest of the day.
